WRAP UP: OBAMA ACCEPTANCE SPEECH @ the DNC

*THE FIGHT HAS BEEN JOINED*

In what is sure to be one of the great acceptance speeches in modern American political history Barack Obama takes off the gloves and makes the case for his candidacy and the case against his opponents. Part policy, part biography, part Brooklyn Brawler, and in a memorable closing, part preacher.

The gloves have been dropped:

“It’s not because John McCain doesn’t care. It’s because John McCain doesn’t get it.”

“I’ve got news for you, John McCain. We all put our country first.”

“John McCain likes to say that he’ll follow bin Laden to the Gates of Hell – but he won’t even go to the cave where he lives.”

Read the entire speech here.

Next Up: For you equal-time aficionados, we'll be covering the Republicans in St. Paul, Minnesota next week. Also wall-to-wall coverage of McCain's VEEP selection slated for Friday morning in Dayton, Ohio.
